Today, and perhaps more than the previous years, we feel the need to live in a society where inclusion is a reality. After a difficult year 2020, when our companies fought hard to maintain their activities and keep precious men and women within them, we are convinced that disability is a benefit for society as well as for the economy.
It is no longer necessary to prove that each national federation promotes and energizes the employment of people with disabilities while having a strong impact on corporate social responsibility. Together, the federations of Germany, Belgium, Spain, France and very recently Poland and Austria represent more than 200,000 employees in fields with proven and competitive skills.
Inclusives Entreprises’ actions have significant impacts on the lives of citizens in the EU and around the world. Not only in terms of products and services offered or jobs and opportunities created, but also in terms of working conditions, human rights, health, environment, innovation, education and training. Public authorities, including the EU, have an important role to play in supporting and encouraging businesses to conduct their business responsibly. The European Confederation of Inclusive Entreprises must continue in 2021 this lead, on a regular and sustained basis, working closely with the European Commission and the European Parliament in order to support initiatives, and pretend to a rise of the employment rates in the disability sector, in an undifferentiated way but also towards reserved public procurement choices.
We have the challenge to do that in 2021 and the years to come. Together, with business owners, institutions, elected peoples and citizens, we have the power to draw a more inclusive society. In 2021, let’s make this happen !
